    My D2 hates the rain

Had to the Dad thing taking kids to the movies last night in the rain. My TD5 D2 is now upset with me or dislikes my son's GF.
Attached is a picture of the dash with the ignition off & the key removed. See the strange symbol where the gear seleted should be displayed.

    The following items don't work:

    • Central Locking from the key or the button on the dash.
    • Intermittent wiper mode.
    • Indicators.

I currently have the battery disconnected for what that may be worth.

    Any thoughts?

As the battery is disconnected, unplug the ECU and check that oil hasn't gone down the harness as far as the ECU.

The faults you describe are all controlled by the BCU which is in the cabin, so I suspect that it may be the problem. From memory its behind or under the glove box.

Well its back to normal. Left the doors open in the sun so I suppose the water has dried up. The joys of having a windscreen replaced by a dodgy operator. Now to find the leaks.

    Thanks

Hi, you have possible had water entering the car at the right front side of your windscreen and water running down the back of your fuse box. This fuse box also has ther drivers for all the dash lights.

Else as Derek says, you have had water enter the left front side of your windscreen and had water running down into your BCU, which is the interface for most of the sensors, alarms etc, does the processing and sends data to the fuse box and onto the dash.

End of the day, was there a water drip onto the drivers foot or the passengers.

I have a serious water leak at the top of the screen. When it rains, the entire leading edge of roof lining becomes soaked and eventually creates a pool of water on the centre console.

I'm hoping mine is a poorly fitted windscreen otherwise the top of the A frames have cracked and require welding. I'm having it looked at in a few weeks...hope yours is just the screen.

I had water dripping onto both feet. The windscreen fitter did not fit 2 triangular shaped rubber bits to the bottom corners of the trim. I wonder if these were preventing th water ingress...

How do I get to the BCU? is this a glovebox removal job?

The glovebox is quite easy to remove - just undo the screws on both hinges and slide up the guide rollers and the glove box comes out. The ABS controller is black, the BCU is alum as is the Slabs ( if you have ACE.)
