Dave, thanks for the reply on how to identify early /late regulators.
Just to get all the info in one place...
Is this correct?
Early regs have two hoses ...Later ones have three...therefore...
For the fuel line inlet/outlets we use the same O-ring (sizes quoted above) and need two for the early Reg. or three for the later one.
The main o-ring between the Reg. and the engine block needs a single
0-ring ( sizes quoted above) and these are different between early/late Regs.
We need to know if Reg. 106V7 is the early one ???
( and if 117V7 is therefore the later one) so that the correct sized main body O-rings can be purchased before/without dismantling.
Again this may help in carrying correct spares on a trip.
Cheers
Bob
Hi Dave
Nice socket you got here.
I use a simmilar set and ring flat combination spanners.
Will need to do this repair aswell.
The FPR was replaced but started to leak very soon again.
Bob,
I may be wrong but I dont think Graz was quoting the 2 different regulators, but the 3 different O rings required to do his, which I think is the 3 pipe type regulator. AFAIK the 106V7 and 117V7 are the catalogue numbers for the individual or rings.
Graz may be able to clarify this for you.
I thought mine had gone the other day to as it started dumping diesel in the same manner. Upon investigation I just found that the pressure swich had come loose and was leaking. Some loctite 569 on the thread and all was sweet again. Something to investigate.
The other thing you can do is pull them out and and take them with you for identification to your supplier. If you have access to an o ring kit then it should have them. Standard o ring kits are cheap. Viton ones are dearer and probablly better off buying Viton individually. Even if you bought 2 of each it would still be fairly cheap for the Viton ones and used what you needed.
Craig, thanks
My regulator is fine (at present)
I was just trying to get my head around which o-rings fitted which regulator etc so that I and others could buy/carry correct spares etc.
Yes on re -reading I think I was confusing o-ring part numbers with regulator types?
You are right, so cheap.... that you carry all the bits listed here and use what you need.
Cheers
Bob
The expense of the o ring kit is a bit up front, but not expensive, but very handy to have and come in useful for a multitude of jobs. I actually need to get a new kit.
But guaranteed the one you need is never in the kit or the ones you have already used.;)
I must apologise as my internet access has been virtually nothing for the last few months. Hope to have it sorted soon and reply properly to this thread. Cheers for now....Graz
I replaced the o-rings in my regulator on the weekend.
Thanks to the earlier posts, I was able to buy the parts prior to removing the regulator. The total cost of parts and a gasket was $10 so it was definitely worth trying.
So far it seems to be better. I won't know for sure until the diesel drains from the acoustic cover over the gearbox but there is a definite lack of diesel on the floor of the shed now.
While I had it apart I had a look a the diaphragm assembly and decided that if that was the culprit then a quick press on the rolled seem around the diaphragm should sort it out so this may have also helped to cure the problem.
I have taken photos but can't post them at the moment (I keep getting errors ...). I'll get them up as soon as I can.
