Shock Mount Collars.
Yesterday I fitted my new front konis (landcruiser 80 series size) and went the creative way to keep them centred.
Stock they use the same profiled steel washer with a depressed centre (which locates on the shock tower) and a raised edge to hold the rubber bumper centered.
They never want to stay there and the washers for these needed a 22mm hole instead of the 19mm my shock towers and axle have.
So I buzzed up some thin plastic washers with holes a little bigger than the 14mm shock pins and a lip to index into the shock towers and axles. We'll see how long they last.
The plastic won't wear out the shock pins that fast and hopefully the shock pins won't wear out the plastic. They're thin enough that they won't try to bend the shock pin but still keep them centred.
I'll let you guys know how well they last.
As for travel measurements. These have 220mm of stroke, I use longer bump-stops and they have 180mm clearance at full droop. I fitted longer brake lines at the same time.
The twin-tube 80 series shocks may have more travel, these are gas/hydraulic so the gas reservoir reduces the internal room somewhat.
