    Different transfer cases

    Can anybody tell me if there is any difference between 200tdi def. and 200tdi Disco and maybe R/Rover trans cases??
    Ratios?? different input gearing

    I'm pretty certain the difference is the Disco has higher high range gearing. Low range, I believe, is the same. I assume the RR is the same as the Disco.

    High Range - Early RR auto's 1:1, Disco/RR 1:1.2, Def 1:1.4

    Are petrol discos any different??

    They are the same - the transfers didn't vary between petrol and diesel. Also, the 1:1 in the Rangie had the TorqueFlight auto.

    Some differences

    Defender 1.1410
    Disco 1.22223

    Then the gear styles change from Suffix C to Suffix G

    How do I know? I am changing mine at present and am dealing with Ashcrofts, and of course mine is the later "G" so I will have to fork out extra $s to gain the required outcome 1.0003.

    What are the drawback in putting a 1-1 Rangrover trans. case behind a 200TDI ??
    Any noticable difference??

    You may be forever changing gears.
    I have a 1:1 transfer case (from a 3speed TF727 auto) in my rangie, it pulls 2000rpm at 100km/h. But I've got 500+ Nm and you've probably got half that.
