I cannot see any reason why it should not be a straight fit. It is the same unit, as far as I know the transfer box has another suffix, that's about it. Good luck, mate!
Gday,
Just wondering if a R380/LT230 from a 1997 300TDI would fit into a 1994 300TDI (with a broke R380/LT230), with no mods or anything?
If so, how does the gear ratios and all that jazz go?
Any other problems with it?
Regards
Matt

There are people who spend all weekend cleaning the car.
And there are people who drive Discovery.
Should be just a strait swap. 300 to 300 should be same gear ratios. I just finished putting r380 into my 200tdi replacing the very stuffed lt77 with only very minimal mods. Are you sure yours is an R380 not lt77?
