Hi Arthur,
I have a new relief valve spring and plunger if you need it, BUT I would suggest dropping the sump and removing the relief valve plunger etc and see if it is sticking/ scored. Take you about an hour from start to finish.

2 things changed...
Oil and Filter....
For sake of ease...Spin on a new Ryco Filter :D
If no joy.... Start looking elsewhere!!!!
I agree with you Tombie, I know tah Donaldson filters were good, I used them on tractors but it is more than a coincidence that the perure plunger it is going to play up just when I changed the filter.
The engine has a little use, 100000 km in 14 years, so the possibility of residues on the bottom of the sump is there
Now if you didnt have an oil pressure guage you would be driving around with no worries at all:p:p;)
If it had been a navara with the 3 litre diesel,it would have blown the seal on the oil filter & pumped all its oil out,as my son found out the hard way.I presume the Patrol would do the same as engine is similar.Common fault when the oil pressure relief valve does not do its job,for whatever reason, usually at cold startup with these engines:(
Found the problem.....loose terminal in one wire
Bloody Murphy's law! why the terminal have to come loose just after the oil/filter change :( just to confuse things on the trouble shooting. I was thinking thet the problem was the filter.
Oh well was a cheap repeir and no damage on the engine :)
