hey, its the only sub $300 tyre I know of that scores over 50% across the board.

But its a double edged sword of a tyre, get the pressures wrong and youve had it and I dont think theres a tyre out there that doesnt have a specific benefit over the steeltrek.

I have several sets and are an awesome tyre. They don't get punctures, grip really well and last. I have just done a 4000k trip towing a car trailer on them no probs, I even did a mad dash through the torrential rain to grafton and back towing a loaded car trailer and they performed beautifully. 120kph in monsoon type conditions.

On the melbourne trip I ran 50psi in the front and 70psi in the rear. Off road my default setting is 20psi and rarely need to change that. They are mounted on 7" rims tubeless. I find on the 6" you can run lower pressures.

At mt mee in absolute slop they dug in and I had NO slippage while other vehicles were skating all over the road. The only drawback to the trye is they only come in 7.50 16 in Australia.

XZLs do get punctures from my experience anyway, agree they do last well, but get VERY noisy when they wear.

At 70 psi they must have been like rocks.

and "120kph in monsoon type conditions" on mud tyres, with a car trailer behind. - no comment

If you try hard enough you can puncture anything, but the xzl's hang on alot further than most, especially in the sidewall.

Maximum recommended infaltion is 75psi at maximum load. With the load I had on it was quite cushy and rolled really well. They will go back to 50psi once I dump the trailer, maybe even 45psi as I have stripped out the tub.

    But where to buy??

I need 5 new tyres for my Zebra 2a, but can't seem to find 7.50R16 anywhere in Sydney!!

Does anyone know where I can get a set of Steeltreks to fit?

    Help me out here guys,

I have XZL's on the new 130, I like the aggressive pattern, and like the whole skinny thing. But I do find on a lot of bitumen surfaces at 100klm they kinda vibrate, get a bit of a woop woop even though they are new, and track just a little.
I am thinking of getting them balanced again, but because they have run smooth as silk on some surfaces I'm a but miffed.

On my old jap vehicle it had 245/70/16, and it was smooth on all surfaces with AT's and MT's. So is it just 7.50/16 muddies respond to different road surfaces.
    What do you find?
