thrust washers on the crank??
i have a noise.
it appears it is in my engine and is driving me nuts
i attempted to get blknight.aus to hear it but it only did it very very lightly so understandably a diagnosis wasnt forth coming..
is a 4bd1-t
the noise is very metallic and i would describe it as a hammering or clattering type of noise
it is very loud
i can induce it at will now unfortunately
prerequisite is the engine cooling system temp has to be about 80c to trigger it
easiest way to induce it is powering up a hill with a lot of loud pedal in use.
BUT it doesnt do it TILL i push the clutch in to drop a gear when the need arises then it will do it incessantly till after the load is removed from the engine for approx 30 - 50 seconds.
does it when engine braking down hill as well.
does it whether the truck is loaded or empty
has me totally stuffed... and more than a litle ****ed off....
HELP!
any clues appreciated!

Could it be front propshaft loose bolts/uni joint/splines stuffed? Temp wouldn't be an issue though. Loosing any coolant?

The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈
his valve springs are all ok, as is his rocker gear (now that its been adjusted)
I should have thought about the crank end float but for the life of me I cant work out why that would be temperature related and why it would be worse on over run.
