Post 67 Disco Front Window operating mechanisim

Got a surprise yesterday. On departing for Bundy airport 146km away at 0600, cold conditions , I wound down the electrically operated widows to assist with defrost. The left hand window mechanisim lowered the window but when I switched it "up" there was a large crack the window partially rose at the rear and then moved no further. Motor ran continuosly as long as I held the switch.
    It was a cool trip.
I am faced with replacing the mechanisim on return from south next week and not having removed the door inner panels before or this particular mechanisim was wondering if there were a few tips available to make life easier.
Maybe somebody has experienced this previously
    Cheers

    i assume you have a 96/97 disco

What do you want to know...Ian replaced my window mechanisim and motor on my disco1, 2 months ago.

was replaced with a d2 unit as they are the same. The crack more than likely would have been the nylon wheel on the runner
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......

Either that or some spot welds failing. Both common.

    Thumbs up 97 Disco Windows

Thanks for input Big John & Dullbird. I will put off purchasing parts until I get back and take the door lining off.
    Cheers
