    Rear 12 Volt Power Socket

    Hi Forum

I want to run an engel fridge from the rear 12 volt power socket of my Disco 3. I have a dual battery system installed and was wondering if there was a way to have the rear 12 volt socket permanently on (not switched off with the ignition). Can this be done without affecting new car warranty.

    Cheers.

I would think that no part of the dual battery sytem would be warranted unless it was fitted as a genuine accessory.( which I assume it is not)

So its up to you if you connect a wire directly to the second battery to operate a fridge.
There would be no warranty issue involved unless of course you bungled it a the car caught fire. There would probably be no warranty in this case.

I have installed a traxide dual battery system which i believe doesn't void warranty, i have read of a way of giving the 12 volt sockets a permanent supply by removing a relay and replacing it with a wire short, but was wondering of there was other methods out there.

    Am I missing something?

In the absence of any mention of a second battery, doesn't the relay bridge refer to running accesories from a first battery?

By definition a second battery with controller is separated from the first battery when the ignition is turned off.

It would seem futile to have a second battery that is connected through the relay and turns off with ignition.

Surely noone would wire it in this way.

Seeing you have easy access to the relay but you probably want to run the fridge off the second battery, run a new wire with a line fuse from the second battery to the output connector on the relay base, leave out the relay and reinstall it only if you want it back to original.
