    Maxi-Drive locker/axle Q?

    Just a quick one guys...

I've aquired a front maxi drive diff lock (whole axle housing etc) for the 110. It's the 7 bolt on the ends type so will be a straight swap using my swivel housing assemblies etc.

The axles are 24 spline diff end and 23 spline CV end without the circlip.

Questions.....can I use these axles in an 85 model 110?
Will they mate up to the 110 CV's (I cant remember what spline count the 110 CV's are)?
Is the circlip or should I say lack of the circlip groove going to be an issue?

No big deal if they dont as I'll just sell the axles and grab some new ones from Hi Tough. Just thought I would ask cause they (the axles) are like new and would be nice to get it in the car asap.
    Cheers

110 CV's are 23 spline, utelising your hub assembly's you won't have to machine in the clearances required, the C clip isn;t needed, as the CV is still held captive, via the bronze bush on the axle and the bush in the spindle, the axle is captive also via the bronze bush on it

I actually don;t know why they put the C-clip on

your 85 it would be a county right, the CV's are bigger than the standard 110 CV's not sure on the spline number but mine are fine spline (not sure if 23 or 24) at the CV and coarse spline (10) at the side gear. I think the circlip is to prevent the axle from sliding out of the CV and allowing the axle to slide past the side gear into the diff center.

Thanks Rovercare. I had read something like that somewhere before but couldn't remember the details.

When I fitted a truetrac to the front of my county I changed from 10 spline to 24(diff end)and used my 23 spline cv's, neither the standard axles or the ones supplied by Keith at rovertech had bronze bushes on them, the new axles were too large to fit through the seals in the diff housing,so I removed the seals too.The new axles have C-clips.Do maxi drive axles have the bronze bushes on them?
Mike are you using the new housing? If so is it a county or defender,as I found out(when I replaced my diff housing) the defender has wider bushes on the radius arms.
