Oh dear.
Shouldn't be any damage I'd say provided CDL wasn't engaged, and it hadn't been over revved too much for too long.
As for the mechanic... that's just plain scary.

I now know the top speed og my 1996 Defender 130 in low range!
It is 70 odd doing 4000+rpm
I am OS for work and the wife borrowed the LR while she put hers in for service. I left it in low range as had been towing the trailer round the back yard.
Her mechanic thought it was a stuffed clutch on the LR! I think she needs to change mechanics, and maybe i need to change the wife too!
Anyway is there provision for an idiot light for low range?
I know there is one for CDL.
Wife drove it all day in low. Hope it has not done any damage.
Thanks

Yep, that's annoying but I don't think any damage will have been done, ass long as you have enough lubricant in the gear box/transfer box.
As for the CDL-indicator light, mine has failed somehow, and when the vehicle was getting a new clutch, some moron at the garage did not connect the L/R-CDL lever, and had the CDL engaged, so when I finally got my car back I drove several hundred kms with CDL engaged until I realised what was wrong. No major damage done, it seems
.
Cheers

There are people who spend all weekend cleaning the car.
And there are people who drive Discovery.
That may well be the case, but would you run your diesel at top governed revs for an extended time period?
