    Fitting stub axles

Was doing my D1 swivels last night, and when I try to slide the stub axle on, the seal inside it is catching on the circlip groove in the end of the axle.
I reckon if I just push it on its going to damage the seal.
Am I just being too cautious and should just push it on, or is there a good tip for fitting it without damaging the seal.

Are you converting to oil lubed swivels abd bearings? If so the seal quality isn't critical as everything runs in the same lubricant.

I'm running oil in the swivels, but still using grease in the hubs.
Thought about it, but decided not to go the whole hog and pull the intermediate seals.

I reckon I'll just wrap a couple of turns of electrical tape around the spline when fitting it. That should do the job

FWIW the electrical tape did the job perfectly.
