    Fuel Filters

    Gday

I have a 300 Tdi Defender, and I'm in search of a decent fuel filter.

So far I have been to Burson Automotive, and they had a Ryco to suit a 200 Tdi but nothing in the book for a 300 Tdi and that was $85 I think they may have been Z533 if that sounds right?

Then there was another similar one for $56

And lastly I went into my local dealer the other day for some valve caps and asked about a fuel filter. $42

First time genuine has been cheaper

    Could anyone suggest a filter?

I use a Coopers fuel filter on my 300Tdi.

    No problems to speak of.

Cost around $25 from British Four Wheel Drive (there's one in Hobart).

For $50 you can get the fuel filter, oil filter and air filter. All good Coopers stuff.

Think the price'll probably make your eyes bleed, but here's the gospel from Rick -

Not sure if any of the Australian Amsoil importers are bring an ERR3340 equivalent in but it would flog an OE filter in filtration efficiency, flow and holding capacity. They are very, very good.

If your engine can accept a Z9 length filter without it crashing into diffs, etc, Donaldson make a high efficiency version P169071 filter, and Fleetguard an LF3487. Both are very close in peformance to the EaO.
They both use synthetic media that is over three times as efficient as the OE one, greater capacity, much better flow, etc. etc. but only use a nitrile ADBV that isn't that flash at sealing. Not a problem for a vertical installation, but one of our vehicles has the filter mounted at about 10* from horizontal.
I've used either for years now, but be prepared for sticker shock if you buy them

I'm after a fuel filter but thanks anyway

Is $86 a bit overpriced for a fuel filter? also will a 200 Tdi filter fit on a 300 Tdi?

    Thanks

Donaldson P550588 fuel filter, $16.36 + GST from my local Donaldson reseller back in January.

Older Donaldson ones were made in Germany, (looked like it was made by Mann-Hummel, a WK 842/2 ) current ones come from the Donaldson factory in Mexico but are genuine Donaldson, so quality should be high too.

$86 is way over priced for a fuel filter!

Just get a Coopers or Bearmach one from numerous places on the net, even evilbay.
Should be no more than $25! No problems with quality at all! and for $25 you can carry a spare.

I've had parts sent to me in Perth from British Four Wheel Drive in Hobart for excellent prices. Their fuel filter is $23.10.

British Four Wheel Drive - Land Rover & Range Rover Parts Specialist :: DEFENDER :: FILTERS :: FUEL FILTERS

The part numbers for the 200Tdi and 300Tdi fuel filters is the same, so I would bet they are the same filter.
