    Why not use some high temp sealant. I would guess thats exactly what everyone else does and I will work as well as any gasket.

    I'm surprised no one has stated the obvious;
    Just make one.
    If you can't (don't have a hole punch and snips, or access to decent exhaust gasket material) try an exhaust shop, give them a tracing of the plate and get them to make one, it isn't very hard.

    Well that explains why yours had it as all 300tdi's in the uk have the EGR as the emissions laws were enforced over there long before anyone cared over here

    The EGR blanking gasket is ERR7173.

    The EGR blanking plate is ERR4698.

    I believe the blanking gasket is the same as the EGR gasket.
    ie: it still has a hole in the middle of it for the EGR pipe.

    You should be able to get these from a Landy supplier.
    eg: British Parts, British Four Wheel Drive etc.
