    NEED HELP,, HEAD LIGHTS NOT WORKING

    last nite i changed the starter motor on my td5, every thing went very well,, got it in an out in 15mins, all went to well, cos when i went to tern the head lights on, low beam dosent work, high is fine same as all the spoties an that, just low,, so i cheaked all fuses an all good, i puled the battery + off agen a put it back on, now only one low works an it seems very dim,

    i have cheaked everything, taken the cables off the starter an reseat them an on the battery, cheaked all fuses an that,, the globs are fine, pulled them out an cheaked,

    enyidears please, cos i need the car an with only one dim light i dont want cops atention enymore

    Almost certainly failure of head light switch, or maybe not as just reread that one is now working but very dim

    Was there a earth cable near the starter motor that you might have ripped off ... or forgot to reconnect

    Attach a jumper lead from the body & the chassie .... to the negative side of the battery to check

    i have just had a relook at everything an cheaked the battery terminals an now the low dont work at all, would the switch go like that strat away, it has never had enyprobs till i changed the starter, were do the lights take there power from?

    The switches get hot which allows the termianls to move away from the contacts. Then one day then then just stop working.

    Are you running a relay on the lights?

    You can strip the switch and reshape the contacts as a test from memory

    would that make only one light work dimmly tho,

    the only relay on it is for the spoties

    I dont think so no, but if both are now broken, but working fine on high beam thats where I would be looking.

    Are the head light bulbs the std wattage?

    as far as i no,, iv just checked the switch at the high/low witch an its got power, so it cant be the switches, its between the switches an the lights, i dont have a wire dig eather so i have no idear were they go

    you could try fuse 3 under the seat.

    I have the diagrams for the head / seat and tail lights here. I will scan them.
