    I am thinking of removing the EGR valve from my 04 D2. Where is the best place to scource one and what can I expect to pay?

    Basically, it you just block it off you have to take the smaller piipe off (N°3) as it is metal, and put a blanking plate over the end on the manifold. But you still have the EGR connected. So you block the end of the heat exchanger. OK but the EGR is still on and trying to suck and you would most likely get a fault comming up all the time.

    Much better to remove it (the EGR) all together. Also remove the one or two little control dodads and block the vacume lines to them. This eliminates the problem of getting faults logged. You will have some connections that do not go anywhere, but heck there a lot of them in the engine anyway.

    BTW. The blanking plate on the end of the manifold is a great place to put the sender for your EGT probe. Just drill and tap it.

    There are a number of "stanges" you can go to to take the EGR system off the complete removal is to do the replumbing and removal of the little "module" lines and the modules themselves. Amazing the space it frees up.

    Well I've done the basic EGR removal.. WOW. A lot of the lag below 2k is now gone. It's now possible to drive and keep up with traffic 1500+.

    With a few inexpensive mods the TD5 really is an astonishingly feisty motor.

    If I could keep the noise down a little.... I'd be even more stoked.

    Well.. after driving a bit more the transformation below 2000rpm is quite remarkable. Driving the car at less than 2k used to feel like flogging a dead horse along. It is now very drivable from 1500 and up. It wouldn't surprise me if it could better the fuel consumption.

    One other thing I've noticed is it now takes longer to warm up due to the heat exchanger being blocked off.

    Have left heat exchanger in place, maybe able to convert to water heater at a later date...gaz.

    This is a nice how to with some great pictures.

    Heading down stairs in 5 minutes to do mine, I will be using the kits I import, and install the egt gauge at the same time.
