If a timing belt on a 300 was replaced at 90.000ks with the full kit, would you get away with replacing belt only if there was no signs of run off or oil leaks at the next 90,000ks?

I've been told that the bearings on the tensioner and idler can wear out so to replace them on every second belt change.
Because they aren't excessively priced I just buy the kit with belt , tensioner and idler and replace them at the same time.
For me it's just peace of mind.....
Pretty sure that's what JC does and suggests too.
I've done it every second belt change, but the km on the last one meant that the idler and tensioner had done 178,000km and they were both shagged* when removed.
* technical term meaning the seals were faulty and the bearings were lacking grease but still functioning.....just

I've just gone through this same exercise again after about 27,000k.
I started out about 9 months ago when JC called in for a short stop over. We had a listen to the "cacophony of sound' emanating from under the bonnet and Justin pointed out that the bearings in the alternator were cactus.
Because I want to use the Landy as a serious trouring platform I decided that I'd better get on n do some maintenance. I purchased an alternator, a full set of belts, hoses and bearings and set about replacing them. After having done the front end of the engine all was considerably quieter but there was a noticeable but inconsistent rattle in the engine still. I listened to every other source of noise that I hadn't changed (water pump, power steering pump, fan hub bearing etc) and came to the conclusion it was coming from behind the timing cover.
I was pretty disappointed in this as JC had put a full kit through the vehicle @ 39,000k so I wasn't expecting to have to do any of this until 100,000k @ the earliest.
Anyway short story long, we changed the injector pump expecting the advance springs to be broken as the source of the noise. I also put in a new idler, tensioner and belt while it was in pieces as there seemed to be a bit to much belt dust around and the bearings were starting to grumble. They probably would still be serviceable to 100,000 but why take the chance. Interestingly the idler was noticeably worse than the tensioner.

I've been changing the lot with every second belt and have had one tensioner fail a month after fitting that must have been faulty from the start.I would do the rad at the same time as timing belts and radiators are two parts that will cost you money. Pat
