How do I remove this bearing?

I'm told I need a bearing puller, but which one and how is a bit of a mystery. Anyone help?

Dimensions: the thread is 16mm, the tube is 54mm or so.

There is now. Says something about this forum (a good thing) -- I posted it without a pic, took me 90 seconds max to put the pic in after I realised, but already someone's ready to help!!! You couldn't pay for this sort of response.

Very hard to see what it all is, a rear wheel carrier?

If the bit with the stub has not much attached, you could drift it out with a brass drift, taking care not to damage the thread, maybe a pic of the whole thing?....maybe just wiggle, wiggle, lift

Yes it's a wheel carrier that I need to seperate the two parts of, it came assembled. Instructions said "just remove the cap and the bearing". Cap was easy, bearing not so and I don't want to force it with a screwdriver. There was a nut on the centre thread which I've removed. Tried lifting it out after I took the nut off, no go.

I'd be trying a bit of spray, wiggleing and rocking the wheel carrier, keep in mind you can give it a little oomph, maybe a little influence under the wheel carrier in the form of a saft faced hammer, close to the bearing, it should come, it won;t be interence fit......unless they got it wrong

Tried that, it's beyond my strength to separate it. I can't see what sort of bearing puller would be needed but then again I don't know much about bearing pullers. It's annoying because I've got the time lined up to install it now and if I can't get it apart then I'm stuck before I begin.

Is it a tapered bearing like on the Kaymar carriers? They lock on pretty well, I used a 3 prong puller to release the one on my old Disco. From memory it just needed a little bit and it let go.

ok, from reading the replies and looking at the pic, the tapered roller race, [the 'cone'] is tight on the threaded shaft, yep?
you might like to wack a heat gun, oxy or any other heating device on it to expand the centre ring of the cone, the bit that the threaded shaft slides through.
and a few well positioned hits with a big hammer should move it.
the problem appears to be that mr kaymar's shaft is a bit high on diameter.
    and,
i didn't see why you want to remove it.
if it is just to lubricate it, then don't worry about removing it, just force grease down into it.

    Uuuuuhhhh!

Just spoke to the guy who designed it. We were talking at cross-purposes earlier today when he told me a bearing puller was required. When I explained again he said "oh just use a rubber mallet" which I've just done and it's apart. And I spent ages at toolshops trying to find a bearing puller to fit!

    Never mind, no harm done.

Back on the tools now I've lost enough time.

Thanks very much for all your responses, as usual AULRO is not only quick, but spot on with the advice.

    cheers
