Help Possible oil leak from missing cam cover

    Hi All,

I had a new cylinder head fitted on my td5 a few days ago and already have a oil leak .. I think it is coming from just below the half moon at the top rear of the cylinder head.. Going through the rave cd and feeling at the back, I think they did not fit the rear plastic cam cover, without this fitted would it cause a oil leak.????

    Thanks for your time, Vince

if this is the same as a tdi then yes, easy fix to quickly pull off cam cover and refit.

just take it back and let them fix it.........

it will be covered under warranty.......

the D rubbers or half moons......should have sealant on them to stop them leaking......
    maybe none was used........

Make sure the front one(large round plastic) has a new O ring fitted. If that falls out you will also let oil out,but worse still, water and debis blown by the fan can get in.
