What oil do you use?.In the colder areas I would use lighter oil. Pat
I have a 96 300tdi. When I start the motor from cold, I get a clunking sound on the pump side of the motor. If I accelerate, the clinking noise also picks up the pace. It only happens when motor is cold, once it has warmed up, if I start the motor again theres no sound. Its very loud, can even hear it whilst driving. The noise only used to last a few seconds, now its taking longer and longer for it to stop.
It eventually goes as in the clunking slows down until it stops. Can someone tell me what this may be? Its not the engine itself, seems to stem from the side, but I could be wrong.
Any ideas what it may be?
