Your disc's and pads will certainly wear more quickly.
I spent a day playing in steep + soft sandhills in my 110 recently, and the traction control came on a lot.
But - is this wearing out anything in particular? Brake pads? Rotors? The thing that pulses the TC?
Or will it go all day every day long term like this with no ill effects?
Thanks
David
BTW - it's awesome where you can get in a new 110 in sand![]()

Yep - I had the CDL in the whole time.
From the noise the TC makes, it sounds like things are working hard down there.
Just think of it as your ABS working OT
pads rotors and potentialy the internal gears of the diff.

Yes, I wore out the rear pads on my first 110 at 30,000km. I put it down to pushing the ETC pretty hard on some early trips. Since learning more about selecting the right gear I have reduced this considerably.
Not a biggy though, IMHO. I was more worried about overheating the system - geez it was hotAthough I am told it will shut down if overheated.
yep it can overheat and shut down, Takes A lot of effort.
IHMO if you ever get a well serviced deefer (or disco with CDL for that matter) to overheat the TC then you have not applied the 3 golden rules of four wheel driving, have the wrong rubber at the wrong pressure for the job or you're asking too much of the vehicle

Pretty sure I read that on the TD5 Defenders it will only run for a continous period of 2 minutes.
goes for a lot longer than 2 minutes....
its a temperature switch on or in the motor that kills it so a lot depends on your ambient temps.
I would imagine that 2 minutes flat out is the minimum you could expect.
