Unhappy Front Diff - Water Contamination

    Gday all,

Well I was doing a few deep water crossings last week and have just descovered a bit of a problem. My front diff breather pipe became disconnected during one of the crossings and the diff oil is now a light brown foam. I had driven it a few times before I discovered the problem and dropped the oil this morning. I have free wheeling hubs so only a couple of kilometers driving was done with the diff in motion. What is the best course of action to replenish the oil and clean out the diff? should I also drop the oil out of the swivel hubs and check wheel bearings as well? Vehicle is a LWB SIII

    Thanks in advance

    Paul

    Drain and refill diff oil.

Check for contamination again in a week.

Same for swivel / wheel bearing lube.

Yes. Same as BigJon. Drain, refill both diffs and swivels and drive round for a week, preferably with the hubs engaged, then check and expect to change again.

Ok thanks for the info, I will check the bearings and refill the oil in the morning.
