    Nulon engine oil

Hi, Have recently changed from using 15/40 castrol oil to nulon 15/40, The reason being i was sure the 300 was sounding a tad rattly after about 4000ks of running from when oil was changed. Nulon claims their oil is 20% less friction free than other quality oils. I was a bit dubious but thought what the hell, cant hurt for one change, Well as it turns out after 2000ks, the motor has never run as quiet, or has performed as well since i've had it Thought i was imagining things, although i new it was pulling heaps better with the van on ,it was when the cook said one afternoon when i got home, "You know that truck sounds a lot quieter in the mornings now" , So if my Missus notices that!! then somethings going on.

    Cheers Sumo

    Hey Sumo
I have been using it since it first came out a couple of years ago in the Jackaroo and The wifes 300tdi Disco. Since I have been using it the motors run quieter and I seem to have better oil pressure across the range. If anyone needs filters for their Landies, Call Neil @ Sydney Filter Service (he is on the net) great prices, most are genuine part no. and great service. No I'm not related but I always pass the info on if the service impresses me.

I have used Nulon oils alot in both the Rangie and Subaru after my Prefered Castrol product became very expensive.
I have been happy with the performance of both the synthetic and mineral oils.

I have been using the Nulon "10W/40" in my D1V8.
Now on 2nd oil change over 15K Klms.
I too have notice a improvement in Power and Response. (Not a massive amount but noticeable never the less)
Last few tanks of fuel have been good for an extra 20+ klms on average.
A little valve train noise is now only noticeable when cold. No more rattle whilst under load (motor is approaching 200K)
It is not the cheapest oil but appears to be value for money to me.

    Just my 2 cents worth

Thommo, Thats interesting as my SYMBO has a 4.7l V8 Toyo LC, and its been to the docs for a major heart fix, and the mechs have20/W 50 valvoline in it till it beds in. I have noticed a slight difference in the valve train noise when cold on start up since the cold weather started comming in, Just wondering wether to go to a 10w or /15w/ 40 or 50??

I wonder how they measure that ! (AKA what a crock)

I wonder who does their blending, or if they've installed a small blending plant over Mona Vale way where they used to hail from.
It might be OK, but really read what specs an oil meets or more importantly is actually approved for before being seduced by the pretty packaging.
<edit> Found they have a blending facility at Moorebank these days, so it looks like they do it all inhouse.
