We found that the 11.5x15 was very similer in size to the 10.5x16 in both OD and width, where from memory the 35x11.5 Simex runs oversize in OD and would be wider then the 10.5 also. I think that is the main difference in both our real life comparisons

I have also heard of side wall damage issues in the very early Silverstone Extremes but i have not experienced this, and neither have the other two running them. I am yet to come across any shortcomings in the Silverstone that i did not come across in my Simex's but they were a totally different size also.

Could the on road issues you experienced have been amplified by the 15inch side wall? I just ask as i find my side walls fairly stiff on a 16inch which i think would help with on road behaviour. Just a thought.

I will own a highmount one day, but unfortunatley it will probably end up on the front of my wifes 2dr project If only you were closer to me.....you often have parts i would grab
I've personally driven on 33x10.5x15, 35x10.5x15 and 35x11.5x15 Silverstones and still find ALL of them much worse in comparison to the simex on anything at speed I;ve driven on Simex, namely being 35x10.5x15, 35x11.5x15 and now 35x10.5x16 Simex of my own, also drove plenty on 36x12.6x15, which are far better onraod again, but not really comparable

Funny you should say that, I have an 8274 I'm yet to stick on ebay.......along with a set of Peco star rims, 2 maxi rear ends, a 308 conversion, blah blah

I'm not saying not to buy Silverstone's, don;t get me wrong, my advice is just something to bear in mind, its all a matter of $$$vs fun, you get what you pay for, BUT some don;t need to pay top dollar

The conversation about Silverstone extremes is a moot point anyway, last time I spoke to the supplier (4 weeks) they are still not available. They where taken off the market because of the size and quality control issues.
Anything you can still buy here is old stock.
I have a set of 33 x 10.5's and think they are great. They are incredibly noisy on road, but that doesn;t bother me as they are for w/e playing. Never owned a set of Simex, to dear in my opinion.

Well.... I guess that explains why no one up this way can get them at the moment. Also why I was talked out of them for my 120.

Thanks for this wayne, you've saved me a few phone calls , if their price has risen and is strctured around the link Tony posted earlier at around $340 each , I'll definitely be looking at a set of Mickey Thompson MTZ.

That would have been my next choice of tyres

I think I payed mid 300s for my 35X12.5 MTZs a wile back. Still in the shed as for my Rangie project
I be honest with you I now regret buying them as I think the new BFG will be tougher and have more traction in the wet stuff.

BFG's are great, but last trip with the boys I punctured a sidewall..........got a bit of a fright when a replacement 33 x 10.5 was going to cost me around $400 Tubes are a lot cheaper.

Most of my tyres here have sleeves and tubes in them for the same reason.

I think the BFG MT K2 would have more strength in the side wall then the above mentioned Mickey Thompson MTZ.
Seems to me there are no bomb proof tyres in the size we are talking about Simex may come close. I've herd J2's are not as strong as the ETs and they not so good in rock.
other than crawlers etc that start at 37s and mid $400s up there is not much else out there.
I've had little to to with TSL swampers or boggers so don't really know about those. I doubt they'd be much joy on the black top

Got me buggered why some one hasn't come out with a really aggressive 14 or 16 Ply rated radial tyre in 33" range as is a popular size these days.

Talking about availability, when I was ringing round, there were no 35x10.5x16 Simex's in Australia... actually there was 1. That was it, so availability on those seems like it can be a bit hit and miss aswell.
