Re: TPMS Tyre Pressure Monitoring Systems

Out of a matter of interest. What do you do when you go offroading? Just switch it off?

I just lower the alarm threshold or silence the alarm.

The TPMS will still report pressures... Mine just flashes the screen showing low pressure in the tyres..

For extended trips at low pressure, I lower the LP limit to 2 psi below the level I'm using.

BTW, Externals are great... Easy to install/use/battery change and never had one tampered with.

First use is the drive to work but it took about 5mins to set up.

Just checked the website and $280 is a bargain. Were they new and if so, where did you get them?

This is where I got the Tyredog from

I contacted a seller on ebay who was selling 4 sensor tyredogs for $178 and asked if they has 6 sensor ones I could use with my campertrailer. Here is the email I got:

    Hi Simon,

    I got your message.
    My TD 2000 A support 6 wheels.
There is no relay in this package.

I am not sure doesn't your car need relay?

If you are sure your car do not need relay, I will send paypal to you directly.
It's AUD 280 inculded shipping via EMS.

    Her email address is:
    plumgoods2009@gmail.com

The ebay store she has is:
    eBay My World - tiffany280

They seem to be based out of Taiwan, I guess this is where they are built. The order time to delivery was about 5 days to the middle of the Pilbara - not bad at all. I did not need a relay in the end as they are required for applications over 10m from the sensor.

I've had Tyredog system for over 3 years now, purchased from a groupbuy via this site. Had no problems whatsoever, pressure accuracy within half a psi and temp readout actually shows a couple of degrees difference depending on which side of the vehicle is facing the sun as your driving along.

After shredding the front left tyre on my Disco1 at 110km/h just north of St George today I am going to buy one of these.
Looked at ebay and saw the Tiffany280 with the 4 sensor unit and have sent her a message.

I assume the unit you got was genuine?
How long have you had it and is is still fine?

I bought the Tyre dog external system via E-bay like many, but the sensors only lasted one trip out west to Lake Eyre - granted it 5000km round trip doing the Birdville track / Strezleki Track/ Cameron Corner etc just after the floods that washed out the Birdsville races but the sensors failed one by one - Looking at the wear mark on the rims, I suspect they bashed themselves to death on the corrugations or the water got them. I will probably get some more sensor but will find a way of cushioning the sensor - probably just the bit of foam rubber.

The hardest thing with eBay is making sure the item model number is the same.

The current one on eBay (Taiwan) is a Tyerdog TD 1000A-X is say $A180 including postage.

So is this the correct unit.

One in OZ $150 7days to go with no buy now price?

    Tyredog TM-2000A

    Hi there,
My system is still working perfectly. I have since changed to a 100 Series 4.2 Intercooled Turbo running 33" KM2 on 17's.
I have used the system for 20000kms on the Cruiser and probably 5000kms on the Disco before it died.

The tyredog system saved me a KM2 on the rear when it was spiked with a sharp rock. It has probably done 1/3 of the kms on hard corrogation and severe offroad (I use the truck as a Pilbara prospecting rig) and they have never let me down.

I think they are an excellent bit of gear.

I have just looked on ebay and found the same one as I have got:

Tyredog Truck & Trailer Tire Monitor Kit (eBay item 170575965531 end time 05-Apr-11 13:14:53 AEST) : Cars, Bikes, Boats

$720 for what I paid $280 for is a bit criminal but it is a good system.

    Good luck

    Simon
