    engine mounts replacement

Well I've been crawling under the car again and have noticed that the mechanic did not replace the old engine mounts with new ones when he had the engine out, even tho I reminded him 3 times to change them.

Is this something I can do without removing the engine - or have I missed my opportunity?

block of wood under the sump, undo mounts and slowly take the weight of the engine. Put the new ones in and let jack down.

Thanks for that. I think that even I could manage that in an afternoon.

Helps if you have two people (on a v8 that is), once the old ones are out, it helps to have someone pull the engine away from the side your trying to insert the new mount. And if you really have trouble, you can shorten the studs (cut some off), as they are longer than they need to be and this will make it much easier to flip them in.
