I think running two setups would be good as a back up. Maxi rear on vacuum that rarely stuff up and a ARB air locker front that rely on a 12V compressor and have bits of copper tube etc. If one fails you likely will still have one working. I'm setting my 120" up this way for this reason + will have some air for pumping up tyres here in the field.
I reckon This would be an Ideal set-up.

Indeed - Maxi Rear and ARB front is a common setup for people who think the MD is more reliable but the ARB disengages faster in a front application.

yeah ,very true Ben, specially in tight places where you need to disengage that front locker quickly to retain you're steering back.

How do you know / test this? Not from I'm watching the blue light I hope!

And am I missing something with this thread - do MD make anything for Toy centres? How do you adapt a maxidrive to a toy conversion?

    Regards

It has been reported several times that the ARB is quicker to unlock in the front. Makes sense when the ARB is spring loaded and needs air pressure to stay engaged, whereas the MD has a detent to keep it locked, and won't unlock until air pressure is supplied. The MD also has a much greater depth of engagement.

You are correct - it is very difficult to modify the rover centre to accept a toyota 8" crownwheel.
