Sept... Derr
August it is....
Not too worked about spring atm. Only if it's going to be revved hard and the lift increase is not that much more. If I need to then I will as it's a ***** of a job.... Have the compressor but the last spring RH bank is impossible without removing brake master.........

Will do. Will take some piccies and post em up as we go.
FYI, ordered from TRS a Dynotec PC216, Rollmaster chain set and a s/h TPS while I had the chance.
Will get Genuine lifters from Rovacraft plus T/C seal and gasket. Already have steel valley gasket and end seals here. May also make plenum seals while I have everything off and have time plus have the desire to match port or at least clean up the manifold around the head mating face too but dont think my little 2.5 HP compressor is up to the job of delivering enough air to run the die grinder with a bit on it, so if anyone has a 12+cfm compressor to lend me for a day or so, it will be appreciated.
As SWMBO is going to a girls weekend at York to her sis's place for the Avon Descent, I'm stuck at home with nothing more than a pushbike to get around once it all comes apart....:(
Cheers

just found the basic specs for std cam. Although it doesnt state lift figures etc, I did find in the head specs that valve lift is 9.49mm or .373".
Working out cam timing figures, all the ones I looked at are basically around 110deg so not much difference between them.
Biggest is the durations, some lift figures and actual opening and closing times.
Biggest surprise is that the std cam runs a 285 duration .
Anyway, for those interested, pdf file attached.
Cheers
Andrew.

Cam and Rollmaster kit arrived today. Only problem is that the cam lube that comes with the cam is in a foil pouch which copped a puncture and has now leaked all the lube all thru the box. So one more item to add to the list...

Update... new genuine lifters and various gaskets & seals being picked up tomorrow.
Mike is adamant that we need a cameraman/woman/child to snap away as it all happens so any volunteers are welcome.
So its all ready to go Saturday. Am keen to get the cam out and see how bad the lobes are after what I saw from peering up with the sump off.
Watch this space.....

OK , cam is in and engine is back together minus radiator and half the manifold.
Nothing broke apart from one of my socket extensions and the balancer left both Mike and myself scratching our heads as to how the bolt was going to undo. Mike basically had all fours on it and it still wasnt budging.... ;)
Mike has all the pics on his camera for todays effort.
Timing chain was for want of a better word... rooted! Cam had essentially 15 lobes and one that used to resemble a lobe.... 15 reasonably normal wear lifters and 1 you could have poured a pint in....
All thats left tomorrow is to finish off the manifold & radiator, hook it up, water it and kick it in the guts!!
Will do a little blurb later when I have some spare time with pics etc.
Cheers
Andrew
PS: Mikey, your a legend, wouldnt have got past the balancer without your help! :twobeers: :TakeABow:

C'mon,, suns up!
ROAD TEST!!!

C'mon give us some feedback! :)
I am particularly interested in the outcome, and results. My last rangie had the PC216 from TRS and I didn't quiet like it, but I am certain it was not due to the cam itself.
Cmon tell us how orsum it is.

It's alive, ITS ALIVE!!! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA ITS ALIIIIIIIIIVE!!!!!!!!
Got a small leak from new thermo housing so just letting it cool now and assess what needs to be done. Used new U beaut gasket from Rovacraft but leaks like a sieve quite badly, actually squirts out when you squeeze top hose with res cap off.
Sounds good tho..... :-)
edit- thermostat slipped out of place and just managed to sit under the housing so Hylomared the thermostat and gasket in place but the spanking new housing had a surface not thAT unlike the dodgy lifter that came out.
A quick run on my bench sander cured it, now the top hose clamp stripped....
I knew women were good for something, missus just got haome and has promptly ducked down to servo for a new one!!
