    Hi Brett,

Think you're jumping the gun wanting to pull stuff out. There would be at at least one inspection plate you could pull off your LT 230 to see exactly what is going on.

    Justin C where are you?

It could be just that spring as previously posted.

Also i have a transfer and auto from a 95 Disco in the shed. Will the transfer or parts from the cdl fit mine???. Thanks again Brett
You need to confirm the centre diff isn;t unlocking first, jack it up, stick it in neutral and see if a wheel turns

Jacked it up and put the t/c in neutral and both shafts moved. Cross axle they where going in opposite directions as they should. So am i right in saying that the cdl is still engaged???.

i think it is time for you to find your way to the top of the box and see what is happening with the cdl lever in each position.
then you can try to disengage it if you see that the linkage isn't doing it -
if the thing appears to be disengaging, by reference to the lever movement at the box, then i think you have no alternative to dropping the transfer case off the car.
there aren't any holes you can look in to see if the thing is working.
the spare on the auto box should fit = although i may be wrong on that.

you may need to ship in some beer to assist you with the removal of the t/case, or red wine, as these substances can have a calming effect in the right quantities.

If you jack up one wheel and put the gearbox in nuetral you should ba able to turn the wheel that is off the ground, with the cdl disengaged.

Yep. Unless he has a locked locker on that axle, which is unlikely.

    cheers, DL

Mmmm, you sense make much not so

First of all (well not really cause I;d be on a hoist) I'd slip it into neutral, jack a wheel up, does it turn? if yes, centre diff is unlocked

If no, Jack a front and a rear up, do the front and rear tailshafts turn in opposite directions? if yes, centre diff is unlocked

If both tailshafts turn in the SAME direction( now lets clarify this a little, looking front the front or rear, when you turn a wheel, do they BOTH turn in a clockwise or counter clockwise direction?) , its locked, so then you need to find out why

Have front and rear lockers which are not locked.

O.K i jacked up the rear and could turn the rear wheels tail shaft did not turn as fronts still on the ground. So i jacked the front up and the tail shafts moved when the cdl was in neutral hand brake off.
Sorry about my lack of knowledge in these areas.

From what has been said here i need to lift one front wheel and one rear wheel to see what is happening. Am i correct here.
If the both shafts turn in the same direction its locked if they don't it's unlocked???
    I am learning just slowly
