All fixed now :Stranded in Cheltenham- of all places!

Well, I don't often find myself stranded - except for now. I've traveled down to Melbourne to pick up a 89 Rangie (LPG). Having driven around town all day, I was inspecting the engine bay prior to the long trip back to sunny Qld, when I've disturbed something and now I have no spark.

I was able to figure I'm getting power to the coil, but as to whether the amplifier is doing it's job is something I cannot determine. The previous two owners added a lot of extra wiring and whilst I've checked what I can, I still can't get it to kick over.

So if you happen to live in the Cheltenham area, and are familar with efi/gas rangies, come on down to the carwash on the corner or Warrigal Rd and Dandenong Rd and say hullo.

ps are you in RACQ. If so, call RACV-137228- for reciprocal rights.

How old is the coil? Often when they get on they fail like that. Nice long drive and then die.

Interesting idea - if anyone in the Cheltenham area has a spare coil lying around - come on down and I'll try it out. But my best guess is that the amp has died. Not something I was anticipating ( Although as Mr P said, better now that West Wyalong)

Since you are at the car wash I don't suppose you washed it?
Particularly if you pressure washed the engine bay.

Try removing the distributor cap and drying it out.
Do the plug leads as well (one at a time).

Otherwise look around the coil for wires that are disconnected that have an obvious place they should be connected to.

Don't sit there and try starting it without reason though. You'll flatten your battery and that is the last thing you need right now.

I was inspecting it prior to washing it - I was somewhat prepared as I bought a brand new battery in my travels today. ( I was going to change it after the clean up). Even though I've cranked it a fair bit, it's still hanging in there.
