have you checked the inertia switch hasnt been tripped.......?
I have decided to get my 1998 RRC on the road after a year standing. The fuel pump does not run. I treid swapping in my spare computer - no change. If I run a 12v lead to the pump side of the relevant fuse, or to the relay under the drivers seat, it runs and I can start the car. There is power to the 30 pin of the relay and the relay is OK. It seems the problems is no power/signal to the 85 pin of the relay which in turn appears to come from pin 16 of the computer. I could just bridge the relay and throw it away, but if anyone can suggest a proper fix, I would be most grateful. TIA

I should have thought of that - thanks. However, I cannot find it. It is not under the passenger seat where my Haynes manual shows it. I have also now tried the test suggested by Haynes of earthing pin 16 of the ECU multi plug (after removing from the ECU) and seeing if that energises the relay (I am not sure how that could work) and it does not.
Look again under the front passenger seat ...
Slide the seat all the way forward....
and you will find it at the back on the floor area .... Black rectangle box with a pull knob on top ,,, pull the knob up & you will see the red stripe on the knob / then push it back down to get your fuel pump / car working

from memory......most things were the opposite to the manuals........
if it said passenger side.......it meant drivers side in australia........
because our cars arent left hand drive........but most of our manuals were.......
Your description is the same as the wee picture in the manual, so I know what I am looking for but there is bugger all under the passenger seat, no wires, no holes, no inertia switch. I cannot find it under the drivers seat, nor anywhere else obvious. Maybe the workers had a holiday in Oct 1988 when my car was built and decided to leave it out! I am happy to start stripping the dash etc to find this switch (I am pinning my hopes on it being the problem) - if you could give me some suggestions on where to look, that might save me some time.
My 10/87 build doesn't have an inertia switch...
I remember this conversation about "no enertia" in another thread ... but can't remember where it is
I'm not hot on the Flapper EFI... but from memory, if you open the flap (located at the air filter intake body) ... this is what activates the fuel pump?? ...
Try moving the flapper manually and see what happens // Haynes manual should mention it's operation in the EFI section

I think the end result of the conversation regarding flapper EFI fuel pump operation was that the pump can get power when the air flap is open and/or when the starter motor is in operation.
Just turning the ignition on won't power the pump.
Is it an auto.?.. If so try turning it to start position wile out of park position. The engine wont crank but you should hear the fuel pump running wile the key is held. This tells us the relay etc is working. Then your problem may be in the engine bay. What powers the pump once its started is were I'd be looking if this works.
