taking the oil filler cap off of a running engine will automatically drop the oil level.........
or even raise it.......as far as the bonnet sometimes........

Interestingly, i can start the car, put it in drive and nothing will happen for five minutes then suddenly the car engages gear and off i go.
Most strange.
Perhaps the wrong forum for help.
Can anyone direct me to a forum that can give me some idea as to what my problem is?
Cheers.
Try sending a PM to Justinc, he is an expert on all things LR.
I think the technical forum would be the place but sometimes your need to wait a bit ?
I`d suggest the filter is blocked but not totally
More so if everything works as normal after it`s up to running temperature .
If the case it means the pump is having trouble getting enough fluid initially and there is a school of thought that the clutches/plates won`t tolerate alot of this ... so it is important , if the problem , to have the filter replaced because the longer it goes on the more stuff will be caught by the filter and the more the clutches/plates will wear .
If it`s had the filter replaced recently , i`d still check it but replacing it again will probably only be a short term fix .
Cheers
I have also read elsewhere that someone else had in a situation not dissimilar to mine within the torque converter.
Will change the filter first, cheers.
