    D1 V8 fuel problem

After 4 starts in the morning the V8 suddenly would not start, after a while I removed the fuel filter to find there was no fuel at all. (yes the tank was full) Removed the fuel pump and it was dead. Bought a new pump and a new filter. Now, when it starts it appears to run on 6,7 and sometimes 8 cylinders. Idles and runs fine on LPG. Do I have an injector problem? Do you have to bleed the fuel rail?

If your lines have dried out, quite possibly any buildup post filter may be clogging the injector inlet screens or even stuck under the pressure regulator on the fuel rail.

Dont think that just because you have a filter, all is well. If you use steel bodied filters, water will pass straight thru the filter element, not to mention rusting out the inside of the filter and causing the element to separate from the body, ask me how I know.... three times...... and clog everything.
Allowing the lines to dry out will cause it to shift in one big lump with the injectors and reg the recipients of it all.

Just take the rail and injectors out, flush everything with lots metho and compressed air and it should all be well. A couple of litres of metho in half a tank prior can do a lot to remove any residual water that may be floating in the system.

    Cheers

    Andrew.
