D3 Tow Hitch & set draws

Hi , We have recently traded our defender extreme for a TDV6 S, wow what a beautiful drive. LR have changed the tow hitch, the salesman showed us
how to fit the first piece of the tow hitch, and now we can't remove it, its stuck solid Help?????
The manual says that we can't use any sort of load leveling bars or stabilizers. On our defender we were using a Hayman Reese load leveler,
We tow a 2 ton caravan, has anyone any experience with D3 towing.

Also we wanted to put some roller draws in the back,Has anyone installed them? found a way around the spare tyre.

Do they make an alloy bullbar for D3

    I would appreciate some help
    Cheers
    Sandra

    Tow hitch is a shocker.

Load leveling bars are a no no with the standard hitch. If you have air suspension they aren't required anyway.

I think all you would need is clearance for the spare wheel winding mechanism and to store the jack elsewhere for drawers to work.

I am pretty sure ECB do an alloy bullbar for the D3.

    Hi Sandra,

There is a lot of information about the towing hitch in the D3 section on this forum and also on the Disco3.co.uk site. If you search for the Mitchell Brothers Hitch on either site or even on the web generally you will find one solution to the problems with the hitch. Definitely no need to use load levellers if you have the air suspension, it adjusts itself constantly and if you fit levellers then the suspension works against them.

I actually broke a key off in the standard hitch trying to get it off and had to get the dealer to replace the lock barrel. If you have got it jammed up it might be worth talking to the dealer. Mitchell Hitch solved it for me though.

If you search for drawers in either forum I am sure you will find the info you want as well. I have seen a solution with a socket extension fixed on to the standard winder to lift it above the floor when drawers are fitted.

TJM do have an alloy bar, one of the members on here (WhiteD3) was involved in the testing of the prototype.

Definitely have a look through the specific D3 forums though for a lot more info. I am sure you will love the car.

    Hi Tim
Thanks for your reply, I have investigated the Mitchell Bro's Tow hitch, looks great. The only thing that would concern me is the warranty, did you investigate that on your D3. Regards
    Sandra
