The first set of EBC were the proper EBC GReenstuff compound being the 2000 series. These are the best pads I've ever used. They bite really well and the hotter they got then the better they worked, they were stunning. They were also fairly dust free and always quiet. Then the next turned out to be EBC 4x4 6000 series which were crap, then they came out with bedding in compound and were no better, then they went back to normal again but importantly EBC wont being in the 2000 series for the Disco2 anymore. I tried Lucas TRW and they were crap too with a loooot of noise. I've now got Bendix and they are good again. I'm happy with them, but I haven't yet pushed them as hard as I have the EBC2000's and wouldn't expect the same level of performance.
Frodos as a kiddie were soooooooooo bad. They would fade so quickly that it was insane, so they were never bought again. I think my mate liked Metal Kings and they were better but they would fade badly also. I was really surprised to read a few months ago on the hot holdens forums that Frodo were making some of the best pads for those applications, so I can only assume that they've come a hell of a long way since I last used them.
I was lucky that the Ferodo's I used on my dunnydoor twenty something years ago were DS11's from a mates rally car. Their road pads were shockers...
For years we used Metal Kings as our default HD pads, it's all we'd fit to F100's for example, and I could make them fade pretty quickly too.
The Ferodo's we used racing came from Ferodo Racing UK, nothing to do with the Oz (Hardie) ones.
These days Ferodo is owned by Federal Mogul, their race pads are developed in Italy with the bulk of the road ones made in Thailand I believe, but they use a lot of their race development, ie. Formula Ferodo/TS 2000 are the old DS2000 race pad developed for F3/Super Tourers.
Ahh thats interesting Rick, that's obviously why they've come so far in such a short time.
