    Stromberg mixture adjustment

The mixture in my strombergs is woefully lean and the rangie is running very poorly .
I replaced the the faulty vacuum advance unit in the distributor today which had been seized in the fully advanced position and had effectively masked the mixture issue. Is it possible to make the tool to do the mixture adjustment or purchase it here in Brissy?. A search on the net didn't reveal much both here or OS.

I used to own an 84 RR 2 door, and it was more that the carbs were not synchronized rather than the mix needle being off - unless you've experimented before with mixtures.

Plenty of pages about doing twin cd's -all you really need is a small drill ( Can't remember what size) and some rubber pipe to act like a stethoscope ( So you can listen to the 'hiss' of the air intake. )

If after balancing the cars you still have mixture problems, you can use a long allen key and a thin bladed screwdriver.

And, if you have some spare $, have a look at the Gunson webpage

    Gunson | Gunson Classics

Their colourtune see-thru sparkplug and carbalancer are pretty good for twin carb v8's.

The carbies are syncronised OK. It's definitely the mixture and both are running lean.

What model is your RR? There are 2 tools to choose from, one with a male end, one female. Remove the damper and look down into the piston tube and you should be able to determine which it is as the needle holder should have either a slot in it, or a raised flat section to fit the female end of the adjusting tool. I can send you one to borrow if you like, ozpost is reasonably quick.
Also, remove the piston assembly from each carb and check the diaphragm, and whether or not someone has adjusted them too far as the needle holder could've dropped off the thread, and it will be extremely lean then:0

The Isuzu 110. Solid and as dependable as a rock, coming soon with auto box😊
The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈

Thanks for that - Its a 76 2 Door. I'll check the carbies in the morning and get back to you about which type of piston. I'll check the other parts as you suggested.
