    Left hand lights out

Another diagnosis query on my 2002 D2 TD5 auto. The number plate light, left tail light and left front side light have stopped working, for no obvious reason, in the last week. I have checked (with meter and visual) fuse number 11 and each of the bulbs and all are OK. All the other fuses are also OK. The left reverse light and indicator still work. There is power to one side of fuse 11. Everything else electric seems OK. WTF?

    And not the other side?
If that's the case, you have a blown fuse.

What I meant was after the fuse is out, a multi meter probe says there is power to one side of the fuse holder. The fuse itself is ok.

    Lights

Is there power in the bulb socket (check with your meter using the battery negative). Sounds strange but could be an earth problem if you have power in the sockets.

LOL, if it makes you feel any better I have the same problem in the Defender 2003 TD5, although my right side lights have gone, and I have lost all instrument illumination.

Got in touch with a mate of mine(mech), and he suggested I first check the tow plug, make sure its not fouled up and full of crud, that could be creating a short. Will get a proper look at the car on the weekend, if I nut it out, I'll post up an answer....
