    Electric Windows

    Gday

Mum just bought an oldish Subaru Legacy (Liberty) it has electric windows they all work except the drivers window.

I pulled the switches out last weekend, they looked alright except the drivers one had a few marks where it looked to have been arking.

I was just wondering is this more likely to be the motor or the switch?

Just wanted to check before I went out looking for a part

    Thanks

I would run power from the battery directly to the window lift motor - that will confirm if it is working. Then you need a meter, or test light, to test A. if power is getting to wires going into the switch and B. to test if power is coming out of the switch when it is on. I dont know anything about Subaru wiring.

I pulled it apart again yesterday

Disconnected the plug that seperates the motor and the switch. Stuck the multimeter in, flicked the switch and didn't get anything

Guess it's the switch thats knackered

    Jock,
If you can figure out which wires are which, with the plug off the switch you can, using another peice of wire bypass the switch by poking the wire into the plug and see if the window works. I did this with the electric seats in my Disco when the passenger seat would not work.

    Dave.
