Guys i have a Defender 130 and I have been aware of a grumbling bearing noise for some time now. What made it worse and more noticeble yesterday was i had a heavy load on the tray and at walking speed the vibration/grumble was very noticeble. I could feel it coming through the seat. I have replaced all wheel bearings, Uj's, Transfer case bearings, props balanced. Front diff checked no props there.
I am thinking it might be the rear diff, it runs a lot hotter than the front. My question is how do I check the bearings in the rear diff. Do you think with the weight on the back the angle change of the prop might be causing the extra vibration exposing the worn component. I might be clutching at straws but any help would be apprieciated. Thanks
I'm reminded of worn and loose pinion bearings in the front diff of a tractor making groaning, rumbling noises.
