Would this be ok to do??
I would like to run my Waco cf50 fridge for a few days, however, as iam soon to be getting a new defender, i am not going to waste mony and time with a dual battery set up on the current defender. I have the cable run to the battery bay ( one of those waco thingys ) and wondered will it be ok to run the fridge on the one main batterym as long as iam driving / engine running?
then switch to mains at the nightly stops
Aslo can a house hold type plug be used on the powered camp sites or do you have to get a different size?

Hi Jud
If you run a circuit from your battery to the waco then it will be fine. Use 6mm2 cable that way you wont have any drama with voltage drop.
the 240V plug a standard 10 amp male plug - it will fit any 240V power outlet.
Cheers Blythe

I cannot see why you cannot run the fridge from the engine battery when the engine is running, No problem with that.
You do not have to permanently install the second battery in your present vehicle, just get a battery box and the battery which you think in installing in the new vehicle and use it now.
The second battery on my Defe is in a box which I can remove form the Defe and place it next to the fridge on the base camp.
Regarding the plug on the camping sites generally they are 15 amps. You can plug a 10 amps male plug on a 15 amps power outlet but you cannot plug a 10amps female plug on an 15 amps male plug like the ones fitted on the caravans.
