Outstanding - I can figure out the basic size of the hole, but may I ask what is the measurement from the hole to the tailgate strip?
.
It seems like only yesterday when I had the tank out to replace the fuel pump. In reality it was 8 years ago. When I had the tank out to replace the pump (VN commodore pump) I replaced the fuel hoses, clamps, flushed the tank, Tectyl the seems and thought well I won't have to go there again for another 20 years.
So when the tank started leaking from the top and obviously from the pump area, I was very ****ed to say the least. So after removing the custom rear bar and the tow bar just to get access to remove the tank, I took the trouble to make an access hole for the fuel pump.
The leak was actually coming from the rather dodgy connector assembly on top of the fuel pump assembly. So I removed it and silicon sealed the wiring in the hole. I tied the wiring harness to the pump output pipe so it doesn't work in that area.
Here is the hole cut in the floor.

After I reinstalled the tank the hole was not quite on target but close.

As you can see the existing floor is aluminium. Gota love Rover for that at least. I cut up some strips of an old Computer Case and rivited them to panel i just cut out.

And here it is fitted in place before using some silicon sealant to seal it off.

Keep in mind mine is an 89 Model.
I'm pretty sure any of the 3.5 Litre fuel injected rangy will be the same.
They did change fuel tank sizes over the years.
Ask for a disco?
Some vehicles had a factory cover fitted.
From the centre of the left hand seat belt hole accross 175 mm and down 470 will land you dead centre in the middle of the pump.
.

Thanks for that - I have a 89 RR to play with for a while.....to satisfy the need to hear v8 noise every now and again.
