air con removal
hi all could do with a few tips if anyone done this befor....i want to remove my air-con from my 300tdi discovery...is there a set procedure in doing this or can i just unbolt the hoses and remove the whole system including rad from engine bay....i want to use the two front fans and mount them onto my engine rad and use a inline temp gauge. i want to put in the inside of rad but will need the fans to suck not blow as they face inwards at moment has anyone done this and if so could you send me some pics and any think that i should know about.....cheers

If you have an AC mechanic nearby, go visit and get them to suck the refrigerant out of the system and then you can unbolt all of it and remove it. Some parts of the system are under pressure and it can be a little hazardous if you DIY.
After that, there is no reason why you can't generally leave the fans where they are - for the diesel there isn't much difference which side of the radiator they are, but you will have to adapt the fan mounts so they are closer to the radiator when you remove the aluminum condenser array.
If you leave them in front, you can still use an ordinary fan as a backup, or if you have to tow heavy loads etc.
The hardest part will be setting the thermo switch up - you'll need a wiring diagram too.
