Had the same problem in my D1. Locksmith said it was from the weight of keys hanging on the end of the ignition key. The solution was to lift the key up and move back and forth quite fast until it came free. I was advised to use Boltoff, as it has Teflon in it, instead of graphite and to spray heaps of it into the barrell. This washes all the grease and grime out of the barrell. I did manage to get the key out after a while. Had the same problem in my D2 and used the same solution. Worked fine and never had a problem since. Good luck.

Gary
Ive had BMW's Rangy's & pinball machines with lock problems.
The only thing that works is a heavy grease squirted into the barrell, and plenty I mean plenty of working the key back and forth to get it into the springs ETC in the barrel.
