Wheel offsets & steering issues - Rangie

    Hey All

Just wondering what the best offset and wheel size would be for fitting wide 35s on a lifted rangie would be?

I test drove a rangie with 2inch body lift and three inch suspension lift and the tyres which were 35x12.5x15s scrubbed pretty badly on the front control arms.

I presuming to fix this you could wind out the bump stops which would make the turning circle even worse or Im wondering if you had offset rims would this place the tyres further out giving more clearance on turning?

Am I on the right track?

Also, the steering was very skatey at above 70-80. Im presuming this could be due to the 3 inch lift and that there is no castor correction on it or from the seriously old and puny steering dampener on it. It could even by worn bushes? What do people think?

    Cheers

If you want it engineerable -25mm with 8" wide rims will do it. Good luck with the 35's though

With 3" you will need caster correction. Slot the swivels is the best way. The damper will only disguise other problems. Wile you do the caster make sure the swivel preload is correct. Some cranked rear arms would be a good idea as well with 3".
