Question TD5 Disco exhaust mid pipe Q...

    Hi All!
Just wondering if anyone knows who might make a resonator/hotdog style mid pipe to replace the silencer on my disco 2 TD5 in oz (pref WA)? I don't want to go a straight pipe as I want to minimise noise but increase flow. Also, being out in the country, I don't want to have to drive in to the city and lose my car for the day. I would like the "phone-painless credit card-goodies arrive" option if possible!
    Anyone know of a supplier?

no one..not even in the uk!

i can with out a doubt say that you will be hard pressed to notice the difference in noise between a center muffler and a straight pipe.

couldnt really tell in my 90 cant tell at all in the D2.

    cheers phil

    Thanks Phil,

Anyone else had experience of noise level changes with the straight pipe conversion?

    Hi Dave.
The go is to loose the middle muffler and replace with a straight thru pipe.No noise increase, your turbo is a muffler.
Surely somebody in Kattaning can do it.
If you get one done see if they can do a spare for me.If you do sort it and get a price post in the WA AULROian area as a few other WA blokes may also join in.
Also too hard for me to get over to Narrogin or Perth to get somebody to mess around fabing it up.
Im willing to even weld my ends on if they feel its an issue,ie flanges not matching.Thats the easy bit, getting the tube cut to length and bent is the issue.

Thumbs up Possible group buy? TD5 Disco straight-through mid-pipe

    On this web page

    http://www.rovacraft.com.au/products...t/exhausts.pdf

is a mid pipe in stainless for the disco TD5. It is stainless and the quote I have is $130, with an acknowledgement that the price may drop a little if we have a group buy. The only catch is a 6-7 week wait for shipping. I've said I'll get some numbers and they'll see what they can "work out" although that is a reasonably good price already so I wouldn't expect a huge mark down. Anyone interested? Anyone want one for another model (although the price may vary I guess we may still save some freight).

An exhaust shop can do it for $80 with flanges so that it is a straight bolt in job. Beats waiting around for one from the UK.

"If" you're going to do the center pipe then you should also consider replacing the engine pipe and getting rid of the catalitic converter. Make a job of it.

Not sure how red-hot our exhaust shop is (they made a few comments about welding some piece of straight pipe to the old flanges on a whacky angle. Hmmm. I'm getting sick of bodge jobs being done on my car....) - note the UK one is stainless. My early D2 has no cat anyway

    HI Davros
The pipe is meant to have two slight kinks in it, as when removing the muffler, the two pipes don't line up exactly. I have not done mine, as I'm not sure if there are too many benefits to doing it. Might do it one day.
