Mine went at Dubbo whilst on a trip to Perth in August this year. The bottom welsch plug spun around causing a horrible noise and oil to dribble out. The bottom valve had destroyed itself and got wedged between the end cover and the piston causing the rivets to stretch. Drilled out the rivets and removed the broken valve pieces and replaced the rivets with bolts and nyloc nuts. Refitted the welsch plug with loctite around it to stop it coming back out. This fix worked fine to get me to Perth and back and was still working fine when I replaced it, but I had the money for a replacement anyway. I have kept the repaired unit as a backup for future use. Cost was just over $400 including freight from memory. Purchased from Adelaide and had it sent to Perth where I picked it up and then transported it back from WA in case I needed it (the trip was done on the rebuilt unit). Was quoted over $1100 for the same thing from the dealer in Dubbo. Replacement is a Wabco same as the unit that failed. Can't hurt to try rebuilding it, or you can have my old one if you want to cover freight.

Thanks for the offer Warren, but I'll go for a replacement one. :-)
I'm not inclined to repair/rebuild as I've not had a lot of luck with this sort of thing over time.
Thanks

Go roverparts, I Did
Mine went in Bendigo on Boxing Day last year. Made towing the camper trailer interesting and impossible for the wife!
Next day rang LR and $1100 odd and had to go to main warehouse at a 30 min interval or nothing till January.
Rang Rover parts, said i was from AULRO and had one for a bargain around a quarter of the above and yes they were open all day. it was Wabco same as original. Fitted in the carpark and all good!
Excellent service, even offered to help install!
