On my way back from town yesterday my car stereo stopped working. So today I pulled it out - could not see anything obvious but looking into the hole with a torch showed a wire with missing insulation.
So I pulled the dash apart to get at it. The earth lead for the stereo was badly chewed and it looks as if the last strand had just given way (Haven't had mice for about six weeks). Several other wires have insulation off.
It also became obvious why my cruise control had stopped working a couple of months ago - the ten conductor lead from the head to everything else was chewed completely through, just next to the chewed earth lead.
So tomorrow, with better light, I will be splicing everything back and hoping the electronics are not damaged. Also hope there is no other wiring damaged - can't see anything else they have been at.

Little sods have been a nuisance here as well. Mainly trucks and tractors wiring looms and then crawl into the Air vents and cark it![]()

A mate went out in his new navara ute the other week & only got 100 meters down the road befor it stoped, he got it taken to Nissan and when the had a look under the bonnet & removed the engine cover either mice or rats had eatin through the plactic fuel lines that surpply the injector pump & some of the wiring harness lol.
The cook and I were at Home Valley Station a couple of years ago and drove down to the Pentecost for a bit of a look at the locals (prisoners from the lock up in Wyndham I think) fishing.
The station manager was trying to find what was causing the horrendous stink in his Tojo Troopy so I lent him a screwdriver to take a couple of covers off and he found a dead mouse in the aircon which was at that nice smelly stage and it nearly made him and the passengers sick.
Its amazing the stink that comes off something so small.
