    greasable ball joints

It looks like I might be due for a set of tie rod ends. Has anyone fitted greasable ones? Where would I get them from?

    Hi,

I have greaseable TRE's on my POS. Came from Burson's and were $26 -$29 ea from memory.

Some people don't like the brand, but they're still fine after 60k km.

    cheers, DL

I have no experience with them on Defenders etc, but I have used them on Series Landrovers, and find that the sealed ones last a lot longer unless the seal is damaged. This may be a function of quality rather than whether or not there is a grease nipple, but I suspect the seals on the greaseable ones are nowhere near as good at keeping dirt and water out

The sealed ones on my 110's tierod have done around 250,000km - were replaced when a heavy duty tierod was fitted. The one on the steering box end of the draglink has been replaced once, and a second time when a new box was fitted. I am pretty certain the one on the other end of the drag link is original at 490,000km.
