    Range Rover Classic A/C Compressor Mounts

    Can someone post up a photo of a Range Rover Classic A/C mount
    I want to use the old York Compressor as an air compressor, I have a mount of a 1976 Range Rover but cant see how it bolts onto the engine.

    AFAIR my 77 had a steel lump of a thing that looked locally fitted.

    It fits very low on the lh side of the block using some holes in the block in front of the engine mount and AFAIR was mounted vertically ie not on the V but further down. AFAIR , it also had a brace to a sump bolt and the idler pulley sat down very low under/ behind the front cross member.

    There were several diifferent mounts and the later ones are a casting on the RH head.

    Phillip thanks that sounds about right but I just cant see where it fits.
    Not sure if I can get it on the Stage 1 will have another look tomorrow

    If its off a very early rangie will likely be down low. I have both types here so if your still in strife I can get you a pic when I get back from Sydney on the weekend.

    The york when factory fitted in the mid 80's was mounted using a cast bracket onto the RH side , this is the best photo i have of it i'm afraid .

    i was dismantiling an 82 rangie motor today, wish i had seen this post earlier as i would have taken a pic of it all complete, basically the compressor mounted onto a bracket that was bolted to the block down low on the right hand side of the balancer, two bolts into the timing cover (well near enough), and two on the side into the blockit was on the same belt as the power steering pump, so i dont know if that is the same kind of setup you have in mind

    Thanks guys I figured it out I hope the mount I have is from a 1976 model and is bolted to the LHS (facing forward) of the engine.
    It sits very low with 2 bolts from the timing cover and 2 bolts from the block and an additional support back to a sump bolt.
    I planned to try to put a York Compressor in to use as an Air Compressor but in a Stage 1 you only have 4-5 inches in between the mounting and the chassis on the LHS, I found a new York Compressor today and they are 6 inches wide. So either I need to blow the steering relay mounts off of the chassis as the vehicle isnt left hand drive or find another mount.

    Not sure what to do at the moment based on the fact that the Series Land rovers had a weakness in the chassis at this point I am not sure I should go removing metal.
